Clint Eastwood on Obama: "Not a fan"

What! Clooney defends conservatives

George Clooney is a big Hollywood Leftist. No doubt about it. But even he stopped Bill Maher in his tracks as he began another one of his ill-informed rants on conservatives.

Wisdom from Hollywood - Russel Simmons

Music mogul Russell Simmons blames Christians for first WTC bombing. Larry King was right on top of it and called Simmons on his factual error. OK, I made that last part up. King said nothing to correct the record.

Cornel West: President Obama's 'No Messiah'

Cornel West is a man of the Left; Princeton University professor, member of the Democratic Socialists of America, and Obama supporter. That's what makes his comments in a recent interview all the more interesting:
On Glenn Beck: "I'll fight for the right of Glenn Beck to express his opinion. Even he has a right to be wrong, which he is most of the time. ... Beck appears to have a certain preoccupation with black folk. Why is he so obsessed with black people? I notice he doesn't give the Amish that much attention."
On what President Obama is doing wrong: "While he's made some good, positive changes, I don't think he's a messiah or even a very progressive politician. It turns out when you talk about hope, you have to be a long-distance runner."
On his current relationship with Obama: "He doesn't return my calls. ... I did 65 events for my dear brother Barack on the campaign trail but have not seen him since Martin Luther King Day 2008. ... I couldn't even get a ticket to the Inauguration for my mother. ... I think he has the kind of disposition where he just moves on." Full Story>>
Cornel was interviewed on CNN after Obama won the election. He seems to have lost some of the optimism he expressed at that time.

By the way, there is also a Hollywood connection for Cornel. You might remember that he had a small part in the Matrix trilogy as a member of the council and he also had a hand in developing the storyline as well.

Wisdom from Hollywood - A Series

In this clip, entertainer Cyndi Lauper goes on a profanity laced tired. She refers to Bush and Cheney as "criminals" and evangelicals "devils".

This is America and she has every right to express her opinion. But those are some pretty harsh and hateful comments and she will never get called on it by the media. Liberals are never accused of hate-speech, only conservatives.

Abortion: It's the right thing to do

Does culture matter? Is there a message in the madness we call entertainment? Yes, yes, and yes. In the latest episode of NBC's Friday Night Lights, one of it's characters decided to have an abortion and resolutely proclaims, "It was the right thing to do."

Did this start a firestorm of controversy? Well, no, no, and no. The media largely praised the writers for tackling the issue with tact and aplomb. Kind of like they responded to the Tim Tebow Super Bowl ad.

Rosie O'Donnell is puzzled by the backlash against Helen Thomas

Rosie's on a roll, first she openly supports communism, and now she agrees that Israel is occupying "Palestine". Rosie and her crew seem amazed that people reacted negatively to Thomas' comments.

I'm amazed that they're amazed.

Rosie O'Donnell calls for communism

Rosie O'Donnell calls on the Obama administration to seize the assets of British Petroleum. That's right, Rosie wants Obama to seize the assets of BRITISH Petroleum.

Well, at least she's on the same page with Democrat Congresswoman Maxine Waters.

Deep Thoughts... with Matthew Modine

Matthew Modine has some, well... let's say, interesting thoughts on how to deal with Osama Bin Laden.

Oliver Stone to put Hitler and Stalin "In context"

Here is more nonsense from Oliver stone. Stone is directing an upcoming "documentary" for Showtime. In it, he asserts that Hitler and Stalin are misunderstood and he seeks to correct the record. It is his hope that these "documentaries" will eventually be shown in classrooms as well.

Considering the success Matt Damon and Howard Zinn are having with "The People Speak", a History Channel production and college tour, Stone will likely get his wish.

In the article Stone mentions how much he despises George Bush. Of course, you might remember that Stone also thinks Ronald Reagan was "dumb". Apparently you have to be a fascist to win Mr. Stone's approval.

WARNING: Entertainment can be dangerous to your (mental) health

It's in the air we breath, that certain something that you can't quite put your finger on. It makes you laugh, cry, get angry and shape your world view. You can't get away from it. It's the song on the radio, the TV in the background, the magazine article, the billboard advertisement and in the local theater. In other words, we are drowning in a sea of entertainment.

I can appreciate a good movie, a talented actor or singer, as much as the next guy. But I resent most of the values that come spilling over the airwaves and the Leftist politics that is embedded in much of our entertainment. Unfortunately, I think we fail to recognize how much of our world view is shaped by the entertainment culture.

I don't know if there is something in the drinking water in Hollywood, but there is a culture in the entertainment industry that tends to be way left of center. They also seem to have more than their fair share of eccentrics, because entertainers can say the craziest things:

Does that sound like a group of people firmly anchored to reality? I suspect that when you make large sums of money to play "make believe" for a living, it is difficult to understand the real world.

Next Question; does their world veiw ooze and drip like used chewing tobacco into movie and television scripts? You betcha. Here is just one example. I will post more in the future.

So, be aware and on the lookout for that certain something you can't quite put your finger on. Because the entertainment culture is everywhere. Kind of like the Matrix.

Oliver Stone: Reagan was dumb, Castro is great

It continues to amaze me. Ronald Reagan's presidency, by any objective standard, was a success. Yet, he is still derided by the Left, particularly the Hollywood Left as demonstrated in the following clip.

Now, here is clip of Oliver Stone in which he speaks about Fidel Castro with the greatest respect and admiration.

Apparently Stone just has a soft spot in his heart for despots. He despises a man like Reagan and admirers men like Castro and Chavez. Now who's dumb?
